If you’re using WordPress then you may know that you will need to have a theme installed on your website. A theme is a critical component of your WordPress website, so it’s important to have a high-level overview of what a theme is.
So down to business.
What is a WordPress theme?
A WordPress theme is essentially the backbone of your website. A theme is a collection of files that make up your website – this can include stylesheets, templates, scripts, and more. As we mentioned, every single WordPress website will need a theme installed.
Luckily, WordPress installs always include a default theme. While handy to have, it’s pretty basic so we would recommend looking for a theme that suits your website’s needs.
We use the Divi theme, a powerful theme that includes a robust page builder. If you’re new to WordPress we would recommend choosing a theme with a page builder installed or a theme with templates to choose from. Take a look at Theme Forest for some solid theme options.
Tip: It is highly recommended to install a child theme on your website to go hand-in-hand with your main, parent theme.
Once you have a theme installed, it’s time to start adding plugins and customizing your website. If you’re having any trouble setting up your theme, get in touch with us so we can help.
